Dr. Engr. Manal Elewah is Active participation in or leadership development programmes: of which over 25 years of international working. Experience with managing, supporting and overseeing development policy-making, programme and operations management, resource mobilization and partnership creation. Over 30 years of experience in industrial and environmental engineering, sustainable development planning, safety and occupational health reform and environmental sustainability mainstreaming into development sectors. Holds Ph.D. in Healthcare Environmental Engineering from Washington University WIU in 2011, M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences/Biotechnology from the University of Alexandria Reasearch Centre UNARC in 1987, and B.Sc. Chemical Engineering from Alexandria University, 1983. Responsibilities have ranged from teaching, training, supervising, managing, coaching, tutoring, to advising and consulting, and Project Manager/Resident Engineer of "The Emirate of Abu Dhabi Comprehensive Development Plan 1990-2010, in UAE". Previously worked as Industrial Research Engineer, in the National Paper Mill NAPA and Chemical Research Engineer at the Chemical Enginering Department, in 1983. Then, as Head of Environment Protection Section, EPS at the Food and Environment Control Centre, FECC, Abu Dhabi Municipality and Town Planning Department, ADM, in 1994, in charge of Environmental Impact Assessment, Air Quality, Industrial Permits, Environmental Awareness, Environmental Laboratories, Environmental Studies and Surveys and Noise Pollution. Founder and Chief Editor of the first Children Environmental Awareness Magazine in UAE, published in 1999, and nominated as the first global published awareness magazine in RIO+20, Earth Summit, Johannesburg 2002. Appointed as Egypt Chair of the International Medical Interpreter Association (IMIA), in 2013. Appointed as UAE Chapter Coordinator of Arab Network of Development and Environment (RAED), in 2014; and UAE Chapter Coordinator of Arab Office for Youth and Environment (AOYE), in 2015. Professional Certified Trainer from American Global Academy for Human Development AGAHD, OHSAS18001 Lead Auditor from IRCA and BSI, Leadership Diploma, ISO14001 Lead Auditor from DNV, ISO9001 Internal Auditor from BVQ, and CHESP Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional, AHE.
Active volunteer with several national and international NGO’s and business associations, Translators Without Borders TWB, The National Emergency Response Volunteer Programme SANID, The National Community Volunteer Programme TAKATOF, Operations Smile OS, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City SKMC, Cancer Children International CCI and Goodwill Ambassador and United Nations Volunteer UNV.
Finally, Founder and CEO of Art2Care Initiative, the first Art As Therapy Program designated for pediatric cancer patients and families, as well as for pediatric live threatening diseases in the Egypt, and the Middle East, currently working with 6 public and 4 private hospitals in Egypt.
