Speaker’s Profile
Dr Aswad is a graduate from Aleppo University with Doctor of Medicine (1980). He completed his post graduate training in United Kingdom in General surgery & Urology, then Obstetrics and Gynecology (1982-1989 and was awarded his Membership for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG-RCOG), UK  (1988).  Then He completed his Training in Gynaecological Oncology  at the Gynaecological Oncology Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead ,the largest Female cancer unit in the United Kingdom (1989-93)  and subsequently attained his Doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Newcastle (PhD). Dr Aswad later lectured at the University of Newcastle and maintained a consultant position within NHS Trusts in the North East (1993-1998)
 
On moving to the United Arab Emirates, he was appointed as an associate professor at the College of Medicine & Health Sciences (CMHS) and consultant at Tawam Hospital for eight years (1989-2006). During this period, he was awarded fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG-RCOG). He later occupied the position of Chair of Department in Tawam (2006-2011) during which he was awarded Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health, the Royal Colleges of Physicians of United Kingdom, 2008, (FFPH-RCP) UK. 
 
Subsequently, Dr Aswad established services for Ain al-Khaleej Hospital (2011-2013) as a Medical Director during the trust’s start before returning to Tawam Hospital with his re-appointment as Consultant and Chair of Department in Tawam (2013-2019) and as adjunct Professor at CMHS. 
 
From October 2020 moved part time to multidisciplinary polyclinic sitting (Levantine Medical Center, Al-Ain) as Consultant O&G / Gyne Onc & Medical Director and part time Consultant O&G/ Gyne Oncology, Tawam Hospital, Al-Ain
 
Since leaving the CMHS, UAE University Dr Aswad hold an Adjunct Professor Position, CMHS, UAE University
