PSYCHIATRIC EXPERIENCE
1) HEAD OF PSYCHIATRY DEPARTMENT – DAMIETTA COLLEGE OF MEDICINE – AL-AZHAR UNIVERSITY (10/11/2004 and still )
As a professor of psychiatry and head of department , Iam responsible for planning and implementation of academic and clinical education and training for both undergraduate and postgraduate in a newly developed College of Medicin in New Damietta City (a branch of Al-Azhar University) .
2) SHAALAN CENTER (1998 - 2010 )
I used to lead a group therapy once weekly ( wednesday ) and helding also individual psychotherapeutic sessions for some patients following mainly the humanistic approach.
3)PSYCHIATRY DEPT. , MANSOURA GENERAL HOSPITAL ( 29/8/1998 – 9/11/2004 )
This is an MOH hospital containing all specialities among of which is psychiatry dept. where I am working as psychiatric consultant . We have outpatient clinic and inpatient unit for general psychiatry . In addition to my duties in clinical work I am responsible for teaching and training of jenior staff . In this dept. we are using all treatment modalities including drug therapy , ECT , psychotherapy and behavioral therapy . We also responsible for assessment of cases referred for medicolegal issues .
4) Al-AMAL HOSPITAL ( 1992 - 1997 )
Since 9/2/1992 I have been working in Al-Amal Hospital , Jeddah , Saudi Arabia . This Hospital is an MOH Hospital for treatment of drug dependency and alcoholism in Western area of Saudi Arabia
Its capacity is 280 beds . The system based on a multidisciplinary approach in a therapeutic milliew . The team consists of psychiatrist, psychologist , social worker , occupational therapist , nurses , religious leader , and chemical dependecy counselor . The main components of the program are : detoxifician , community meetings , group and indevindual psychotherapy , self-help groups ,acupuncture and relaxations , biofeedback , occupational therapy , trips , therapeutic trial leaves , religious guidance , educational activities , famliy counsiling , family therapy , and finally gradual introduction to the continued care unit , for long term rehabilitation and preparation for discharge then after-care plan . I shared actively in developing and implementing this program , as well as , training of the treatment team for their various clinical needs . Specificaly , I had the chance to participate in the following activities :
1. DETOXFICATION :
I spent about 3 months in detoxification unit , dealing with cases of intoxication with heroin , alc., , inhalants , cocain , amphetamines , benzodiazepines , cannabinoids , .......etc , in addition to some cases of dual diagnosis . After getting sufficient experience I moved to rehabilitation units .
2.REHABILATION :
After a period of training in rehabilitation , I became in charge for long-term rehabilitation unit for about 2.5 years . I had the chance to participate in the following :
* Different modalities of a group therapy as a co-therapist , then as a therapist ( here and now , self control , social skills , self help and contemplation groups )
* Training course in Biofeedback under supervision of American Experts in using Biofeedback in treatment of drug dependecy .
Later on I became in charge for the Biofeedback Lab unde supervision of Dr. S. Barny ( Medical Director Al-Amal Hospital Jeddah ).

I WAS SELECTED BY THE HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION AS THE " EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR 1994 "
5 ) AL-RADI POLYCLINIC (10/10/1987-27/7/1991)
I worked for one year as a General Practitioner , then I was promoted to position of psychiatric specialist after passing clinical exam. done by senior staff of Taif Mental Hospital .
This polyclinic was offering an outpatient services including the following :
* Evaluation and treatment of different psychiatric disorders .
* Group and indivindal therapy
* Relaxation therapy
* EEG
* Evaluation and management of some cases with neurological disorders
6) PSYCHIATRY DEPARTMENT , MANSOURA UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
